Chat 'n' Chew

After almost a full day of touring the city and braving the bitter winter elements with my brother, we decided to stop for some food and warming up at the Chat 'n' Chew.

A college kid's haven, the Chat 'n' Chew offers comfort foods on the sorta cheap. There was a plethora of sandwiches, a meat loaf that claims to beat your mother's version, rib-sticking chili and much more.

The menu also offered the quintessential Mac & Cheese with a crunchy topping that was reminiscient of "our trailer park days". Unable to deny myself the delights of pasta with cheese, I ordered a large helping. It was crunchy and creamy all at the same time. Definitely more heavenly than trailer park!

To add to the ambiance, the interior was decorated with odd, kitchy collectables - team pics of pee-wee baseball teams, Betty Boop era cartoon posters, yellowing photographs of townsfolk and more. The only thing that was missing was the smell of mothballs!

Unfortunately, the service wasn't anything to write home about; perhaps this was part of the allure. As the old adage goes, you get what you pay for!
