The Hoboken Italian Festival is on. Part carnival, part feast, the streets were lined with food tents, games and people having a good time.

Zepppole in the making. Here, these are simply fried dough that are sprinkled with powdered sugar. In Canada, I'm told, they are usually stuffed with a custard-like cream. I'm not sure which is the "original".
We shared a classic: hot sausage with sauteed onions and peppers.
