Mexican Street Food

One of the things I love most about traveling is eating locally grown and prepared foods.

After a day lounging along the Caribbean Sea in the Riviera Maya in Mexico, we took a walk to the city center, Playa del Carmen, in search of some cultural sites and tastes.

We strolled past a food cart selling tamales. Although I wasn't hungry, how could I pass up the chance to give one of these steamed treasures a try!

The corn casing was warm and moist, and hidden within was the most delectably tender and most chicken-flavoured chicken I've ever tasted (after tasting this piece of poultry heaven, I engulfed chicken whenever I got the chance!).

The pièce de résistance of this lovely tamale was definitely the sauce. It had an incredible balance of picante and herb seasoning that made my taste buds dance and had me licking my lips for hours!
